GOOD FOR PEOPLE. GOOD FOR NATURE.
The Green Button (Grüner Knopf) is a government-run certification label for sustainably manufactured textiles. It provides guidance for consumers when shopping. The Green Button (Grüner Knopf) sets out mandatory requirements to protect people and the environment in the textile production process. A total of 46 stringent social and environmental criteria must be met – ranging from wastewater to forced labour.
What is special about the Green Button (Grüner Knopf) is that the company as a whole is also audited, not just the product. This makes it the first government-run certification label to systematically audit companies for compliance with human rights and environmental due diligence in their supply chains.
The government defines the criteria and conditions for the Green Button (Grüner Knopf), creating clarity and trust. Independent auditors review compliance with the criteria.

The certificate’s criteria include:
✓ fibre use criteria
✓ strict social criteria
✓ minimum water consumption
✓ free from toxic substances such as PFC and PTFE
✓ rules for storage, packaging & transport
A product can only be certified when the complete production chain from the manufacture of the raw material to the finished product is certified.

Karlowsky Fashion carries products with the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® product seal
If a textile article has been awarded the STANDARD 100 label, all components of this article, i.e. also all threads, buttons and other accessories, have been tested for harmful substances. The testing is carried out by independent accredited testing laboratories based on the extensive OEKO-TEX® criteria catalogue. The testing procedure takes into account numerous substances, both regulated and nonregulated, that could be harmful to human health.
In many cases, the limit values set for STANDARD 100 exceed national and international requirements. The criteria catalogue is updated at least once a year and expanded to include new scientific knowledge or legal requirements.
